Description of the artwork

"Pose de Printemps" is the portrait of a Magnolia Warbler, of the Parulidae family I'm so fond of. Its habitat is in the wooden areas of Northern America and Canada during the summer and it migrates to tropical regions for the winter.
Photo reference from the book "BIRDS" © Weldon Owen, with the authorization of the editor.

This painting is the first I made.
I had begun to develop a profound affinity with the enchanting world of birds, and the repressed artist's soul that I was then felt an irresistible need to express my creativity with them as my primary subject.
There is an infinite delicacy in birds that I could almost only reproduce with the technicality of oil colors. I was totally new then, in all painting techniques whatsoever, certainly with oil paints and I wanted to be self-taught. Nor was I guided by a style that particularly inspired me.
My only criterion was therefore, to render as faithfully as possible the reference photo - or more exactly to what my own eyes perceived of it.
What particularly touched me in this photo was the contrast full of symbolism between the dark background and a celestial presence embodied by this little bird perched on a flowering branch.
